How to make: step-by-step
Zest your orange using a zester or small cheese grater. Cut half of the orange into quarters (you can squeeze each piece directly into the bowl with the other ingredients). Cut a slice of the orange and set aside for the topping (optional).
Mix together your dry ingredients – oat flour, flax seed meal, and chia seed – in an oven safe or microwave safe bowl, depending on what you are using.
Add in the rest of the ingredients: orange juice + zest, almond butter, maple syrup, and almond milk. Mix until everything is well combined. Top with a slice of orange (optional).
Bake at 350°F in an oven or toaster oven for about 17-20 minutes. If using a toaster oven, you could set the temperature to 400°F. You could also microwave the oats for about 3 minutes for similar results.
Allow the baked oats to cool and enjoy!
Serving and Storage
Enjoy these oats warm after they have baked and cooled slightly. You could also top these oats with some yogurt or a drizzle of almond butter.
If making these baked oats in advance as a meal prep recipe, you could refrigerate the oats, cooked or uncooked in the bowl with a covering. When ready to eat, reheat the oats or bake as listed above.
